Vishay Intertechnolog announced the release of a new online tool from its optoelectronics division to speed up the time-consuming computing work of home entertainment system design engineers. All products that use the remote control function need a window with the exact size to ensure that the infrared signal emitted by the remote control can be received.

All products that use the remote control function need a window with the exact size to ensure that the infrared signal emitted by the remote control can be received. Now, Vishay Optoelectronics has released a new remote control window size calculation tool, as long as the input photoelectric element to the outside window distance, can automatically calculate the best window size, to solve the tedious calculation of window size work.

     "Infrared receivers, infrared transceivers, and light sensors all require a window or an opening in the glass to function in the remote control." Jim Toal, Vishay's regional marketing director for optoelectronics in the Americas, said, "Currently, calculating the dimensions of these Windows means pulling formulas from application notes and using calculators with geometric functions such as tangential angles. Our new computing tool is a time saver for designers, who can easily complete their designs with just a few mouse clicks."

     When using the remote control window size calculation tool, the designer simply selects the model used from the list of infrared receivers/transceivers and light sensors, enters the distance from the component to the window, and clicks "Calculate". The optimal window length and width will be displayed immediately. In addition, this online calculator provides quick access to data sheets, application notes, and other information about selected components.
