Vishay Intertechnology has announced the launch of a new monolithic domain analog switch and the industry's first new uDFN6 package in an ultra-small size. Ideal for switching between analog and digital signals in portable consumer products and medical devices, the Vison Siliconix DG3257 offers a resistance of 50 at 4.2v, improved bandwidth, reduced parasitic capacitance, and power down protection.

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the launch of a new monolithic domain analog switch and the industry's first new uDFN6 package in an ultra-small size. Ideal for switching between analog and digital signals in portable consumer products and medical devices, the Vison Siliconix DG3257 offers a resistance of 50 at 4.2v, improved bandwidth, reduced parasitic capacitance, and power down protection.

     At 1mmx1mmx0.35mm, the device is 29% smaller and 36% less thick than the mQFN6 package. The DG3257's small size allows it to efficiently save valuable PCB space in smartphones, tablets and e-books, wearables such as smartwatches and fitness pedometers, portable medical instruments, cameras and audio, iot applications, computers and peripherals, and data storage devices.

     Compared to the -3dB bandwidth of the previous generation device at 300MHz, the DG3257 increases the bandwidth to more than 700MHz. The 5QSPDT switch has a fast response time with 17ns turn-on time and ultra-low latency of 100ps. The switch has 32dB of crosstalk at 240MHz, 10dB lower than competing products, and isolation is -33dB. The device is manufactured using a sub-micron CMOS process with a parasitic capacitance CD(ON) of 9pF, reduced by 50%, and CS(OFF) of 3pF.

     The DG3257 can handle bi-directional signal streams and is powered by a single lithium-ion battery. The operating voltage of DG3257 is 1.65V~5.5V, and the leakage current in the shutdown state is less than 1pA. When the external power supply is unplugged, this function can avoid excessive current consumption of the slave battery. The logical threshold of the device is 1.4V, ensuring compatibility with low-voltage TTL/CMOS devices. When interfacing with a low-voltage MCU, the maximum power consumption of the switch is only 1.5uA, which is 90% lower than competing devices.
