Vishay Intertechnology has announced the availability of a new bidirectional asymmetric (BiSy) single-wire ESD protection diode, VCUT07B1-HD1, with a low capacity of 14pF, in an ultra-small LLP1006-2L package.

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the availability of a new bidirectional asymmetric (BiSy) single-wire ESD protection diode, VCUT07B1-HD1, with a low capacity of 14pF, in an ultra-small LLP1006-2L package.

     With a small footprint of 1.0mm x 0.6mm and an extremely small size of 0.38mm, the new VCUT07B1-HD1 reduces the board space required for ESD protection in portable electronics such as laptops and smartphones.

     Under the operating voltage of ±7V, the leakage current of the diode is less than 0.1µA, which has a high isolation ability to the ground. In the case of a current of 1mA, any transient voltage signal that exceeds the 7.3V reverse breakdown voltage will be clamped or shorted to the ground. At 4A current, the device has a maximum clamping voltage of 15V.

     The short lead and small size of the LLP1006-2L package gives the diode a very low line inductance, the ability to clamp fast transient signals such as ESD shocks, and minimal overshoot or undershoot.

     The VCUT07B1-HD1 provides a data line with the IEC 6100042 specification for ±30kV(air and contact discharge) transient protection and 4A surge circuit protection according to IEC 61000-4-5 requirements. The device is lead-free and meets the "green" environmental protection standards of RoHS 2011/65/EU and Vishay. The solder joints can be inspected by standard visual inspection without the need for X-ray inspection.
