Toshiba launches tri-NVMe SSD series
Toshiba announces PCIe®1 (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) solid-state drives (SSDS for three different families using the NVMe™2 (non-volatile Memory Express) protocol for a variety of applications, including high-performance notebooks); Lightweight laptops, 2-in-1 / convertible laptops, all-in-one PCS and tablets; And server and storage applications. All three solid-state product lines are optimized for high performance and low latency and utilize PCIe interfaces, which provide point-to-point links with processors and reduce system bottlenecks.
"Toshiba leverages PCIe and flash memory to produce industry-standard NVMe SSDS that will reach the client, hyperscale/data center and enterprise markets with the benefits of performance and latency. Market adoption of NVMe SSDS will accelerate, and Toshiba is well positioned to capitalize on this trend."
Each NVMe SSD product design features a distinct Toshiba developed controller platform and state-of-the-art Toshiba's own MLC NAND flash memory, so the technology is ideally suited for optimal performance and reliability. Each SSD series is designed for its target segment with optimized capacity, form factor, and security features.
High-performance laptops and computer accessories: The XG3 series of SSDS is the industry's highest capacity 3 (1024GB4) client NVMe SSD IN the M.2 2280 form factor offering optimized design for high-performance laptops, 2-in-1 PCS and all-in-one PCS. The XG3 in the M.2 2280 form factor supports up to four lanes of PCIe 3.1 and its maximum interface bandwidth is more than six times that of SATA 6Gbits/S5. The XG3 is also the industry's first SSD NVMe 2.5-inch SATA express form factor available.
The XG3 SSD series is equipped with Toshiba's exclusive four-track Code (QSBC®6) error correction technology with efficient Error correction code (ECC), which helps protect customers from data corruption, improves reliability, and extends the life of Toshiba SSDS. Designed for power efficiency, the series XG3 also features a low power state mode and is the first Toshiba product, along with the BG1 SSD series, to support the Trusted Computing Organization Specification, pyrite (pyrite TCG).
Thin notebook and tablet: This BG1 SSD series is the world's smallest NVMe SSD7, available in a single 16mm x20mm package (M.2 Model 1620) or removable M.2 2230 module with a capacity of up to 256GB. Designed for thin and light laptops, 2-in-1 / convertible laptops and tablets, the BG1 series enables PC Oems to produce ultra-thin mobile PCS and tablets while offering better performance as an alternative to SATA SSDS for mobile PCS. The BG1 SSD family supports TCG pyrite and features a low power status mode.
Servers and Storage devices: The series PX04P Enterprise SSDS are designed for servers and storage devices requiring scalable capabilities and performance Settings. The PX04P Series 2.5-inch NVMe SSD has the industry's lowest power consumption of consumption8. With only 18 watts of active power to drive maximum performance, the PX04P's combined power plus performance brings the low TCO requirements of today's enterprise data centers. The series PX04P also supports up to four lanes of PCIe 3.0 and is available with either a Half-height Half-length (HHHL) add-on card or SFF-8639 connector, a 2.5-inch form factor. The series PX04P MetroESDDS is also equipped with Toshiba's QSBC® error correction technology.
"Toshiba leverages PCIe and flash memory to produce industry-standard NVMe SSDS that will reach the client, hyperscale/data center and enterprise markets with the benefits of performance and latency. The market adoption of NVMe SSDS will accelerate, and Toshiba is well positioned to capitalize on this trend, "said Janet Tang, vice president of TRENDFOCUS.
"Analysts are predicting greater adoption of NVMe SSDS in the coming year, and at Toshiba, we will ensure that our customers have many options to meet their needs by offering a portfolio of high-performance NVMe SSD solutions at multiple performance levels and form factors," said Cameron Brett, Director, SSD Product Marketing, Toshiba's Storage Products Division.
