TE Connectivity introduces the Motorman Hybrid connector, a new member of its servo motor solution

     TE, the global leader in connectivity and sensing, introduces the Motorman Hybrid Connector, a new addition to its servo motor solutions portfolio, with a full range of connectors for all motor types and applications. The portfolio covers industrial motor solutions such as servo motors, linear motors, spindle motors and stepper motors.

     "The range of applications for servo motors is expanding all the time due to their high efficiency, especially in material handling systems and machinery," said Claus Kleedorfer, TE's global Motor connectivity product Manager. "Our Motorman hybrid connectivity solution is suitable for distributed motors and drives. Not only suitable for harsh environments, but also help customers save costs. In addition, the installation process is simplified by reducing the need for cables."

     The use of distributed drivers also reduces the requirement for a temperature control system in the control cabinet, where the drivers are typically installed, resulting in further cost savings.

     More and more distributed servo drives are networked and provide real-time control via high-speed Ethernet. However, the disadvantages of using dual cables for signal and power still exist to a large extent. But the decentralized technology offered by the Motorman hybrid connector uses separate cables for power, signal and data, enabling manufacturers to optimize production according to Industry 4.0 standards.

     Two fast Ethernet slots deliver all the benefits of real-time automatic control while reducing cabling complexity and cost. TE's Motorman hybrid connector is simple to configure and safe to use, allowing diagnostic access by opening the side cover, diagnostics and maintenance without the need to disconnect any cable connections, and reliable communication to meet Cat5e requirements in harsh environments. Thanks to its crimped multi-end terminals using TE's MCON interconnect system, the process can be completed in the application tool for high repeatability. Therefore, the system cost is low. In addition, the encoding of the plug-in can be self-defined, so replacing the connector in use is avoided.

     Earlier this year, TE added a "jacketed" connector to its Motorman hybrid connector family, which includes a secondary locking device for more advanced security. In addition, cable-crimped connectors for cabinet applications are added to the range. These new models complement the original models and are suitable for AC servo motors on printed circuit boards (PCBS). TE Motorman offers two different types of housing, a metal version for harsh industrial environments and a plastic case to provide customers with a more cost-effective option.

     The Motorman hybrid connector is rated IP65 water and dust resistant and can withstand 50g of impact force. Operating temperature range from minus 40 degrees Celsius to above 85 degrees Celsius. Rated voltage is 750 VDC; The maximum operating voltage is 900 VDC and the withstand voltage is 4 KV.
