TDK introduces the SMG3B series with embedded mSATA for industrial use

     TDK Corporation has developed the SMG3B series of mSATA small SSD modules that support serial ATA 3Gbps. The SMG3B series is an mSATA interface that achieves a maximum capacity of 64GByte on an area of about 30mm×50mm. High speed MSATA-type compact flash memory module with effective speed up to 170MByte/s. mSATA is a standard developed by the Serial ATA International Organization (SATA IO) and originally intended for use in digital consumer devices such as tablets and netbooks. In recent years, due to its space-saving characteristics, it has also been rapidly adopted in social infrastructure equipment and smart grid equipment, which has generated requirements for data reliability, high durability, data security, reliability monitoring functions and other aspects.

     The SMG3B series uses our self-developed SSD controller GBDriver RS3, which can be extended to the powerful error correction function of 44bit ECC, data preservation algorithm in case of power failure, and automatic data update function (automatic refresh function), so that the reliability of data has been greatly improved. At the same time, the randomization of the written data pattern through the data randomization function reduces the risk of bit errors, which is also a feature of the product.

     For flash memory, the use of high-speed, high-durability Single Level Cell (SLC) NAND flash memory, coupled with the highly write distributed function achieved by GBDriver RS3 full area static load balancing, can maintain adequate storage life even for high frequency, continuous long-term use of industrial equipment.

    Safety features are also plentiful. With the SMG3B series of ATA standard security features, customers can set their own passwords and prevent data leakage, tampering and improper copying. In addition, through the AES*128bit encryption function, the data is encrypted and then written to the flash memory, so that reverse engineering analysis data is no longer effective. In addition, it supports ATA Trim, which can completely delete data and replace and discard data with peace of mind.
