Synopsys implements the automotive mixed-signal power-on self-test for Renesas

Synopsys, the world's No. 1 supplier of EDA software for chip design automation, the world's No. 1 supplier of IP for chip interfaces, and a global leader in software quality and security solutions, announced that Global integrated circuit solutions leading supplier Renesas company has been in the mixed signal in the design of large scale integrated circuit (LSl) deployed SynopsysDFTMAXTMLogicBIST solution, in order to meet the automotive systems integrator for the requirements of automotive safety integrity level.

     Synopsys, the world's No. 1 supplier of EDA software for chip design automation, the world's No. 1 supplier of IP for chip interfaces, and a global leader in software quality and security solutions, announced that Global integrated circuit solutions leading supplier Renesas company has been in the mixed signal in the design of large scale integrated circuit (LSl) deployed SynopsysDFTMAXTMLogicBIST solution, in order to meet the automotive systems integrator for the requirements of automotive safety integrity level. The DFTMAXLogicBIST solution enables automotive electronic systems to check for faults or find conditions that may cause faults during power-up and report their presence.

     In addition, this self-check function enables high fault coverage in a short uptime to meet automotive electronic system level requirements. Renesas engineers can easily incorporate DFTMAXLogicBIST into their original design process, while also incorporating SynopsysSpyGlass⑧DFTADV technology to further improve fault coverage. With the assistance of Synopsys, Renesas certified DFTMAXLogicBIST for deployment in automotive design according to ISO26262 Automotive Functional Safety Standard Part 8.

     In recent years, automakers have been advancing and accelerating the deployment of electronic advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to assist drivers and reduce accidents. However, if these systems fail, unacceptable consequences may result. As a result, automotive manufacturers have been working with their electronic system suppliers to continuously improve integrated circuit (IC) reliability and functional safety. Synopsys, DFTMAXLogicBIST solutions provide safety mechanism solutions for detecting and flagating potentially malfunctioning issues that meet the key requirements of the widely adopted ISO26262 Automotive functional safety standard. Using DFTMAX LogicBIST and following optimal engineering practices minimizes the risk of failure affecting functional safety elements of automotive ics.

     AkiraOmichi, Senior Manager, Automotive Simulation Strategic Planning, Automotive Simulation Business Unit of Renesas Automotive Solutions, said: "Our mixed-signal vehicle design requires a chip-level power-on self-test solution with minimal size and high fault coverage for digital logic to ensure functional safety. The Synopsys DFTMAXLogicBIST solution meets these requirements even for designs with relatively small amounts of digital logic. And because it already has an easy-to-use hardware interface, DFTMAXLogicBIST is very easy to deploy. We plan to deploy it widely in our mixed-signal LSI designs.
