STMicroelectronics showcases the latest intelligent driving solutions. As semiconductors play an increasingly important role in advanced automotive technology, ST continues to develop the most advanced intelligent driving technologies, including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), connected device communication interfaces and advanced safety/environmental performance.

     In terms of advanced driver assistance systems, ST demonstrated a Connected to the Vehicle (V2X) communications chipset developed in collaboration with Israeli company Autotalks. The chipset integrates a baseband processor, master microcontroller (MCU), security microcontroller and V2X communication technology to analyze surrounding vehicle and road conditions using GPS satellite positioning data and Wi-Fi(801.11p) wireless network technology, opening up a whole new range of possible applications for autonomous driving technology. St's positioning chips support all major Global Navigation satellite Systems (GNSS) and are the perfect complement to V2X chipsets. St also demonstrated a high dynamic range in-vehicle CMOS camera module with the highest signal-to-noise ratio in its class in low-light environments, targeting visual driving systems capable of detecting pedestrians, obstacles, road signs and lanes.

     In anticipation of a future in which cars will be connected to the Internet and mobile devices, ST offers automotive security microcontrollers that comply with the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 data security specification, enabling the automotive network interface to achieve the highest level of security at the physical layer. In addition, ST will introduce how in-car devices and mobile phones can interconnect with each other through NFC devices, as well as an automotive-grade Bluetooth® low-energy Bluetooth network processor.

     Today, cars are equipped with a large number of sensors to collect information about the car and enable advanced safety features. As a leading manufacturer of in-vehicle MEMS technology, ST exhibited a variety of in-vehicle MEMS sensors, including a three-axis acceleration sensor for automotive emergency call systems and a single/two-axis acceleration sensor for airbags. St also demonstrated a six-axis sensor module (a three-axis acceleration sensor and a three-axis gyroscope sensor) and a positioning chip integration solution to assist car navigation with position prediction technology when GNSS data is not available.

     ST has a complete line of automotive microcontrollers. St's Power architecture 32-bit microcontrollers are best suited for high-reliability control applications, including motor control, transmission control, anti-lock braking systems, electric power steering, active suspension and ADAS systems. St has also licensed a new 32-bit ARMv8-R processor to expand its existing portfolio of automotive microcontrollers aimed at real-time safety-related intelligent driving applications.

     In the field of intelligent driving, ST also has IGBT transistors with gate-gate field cut-off technology and power MOSFETs that support a wide breakdown voltage range (40V-1500V). These products are suitable for use in DC-DC converters or inverters within the power control unit (PCU) of electric vehicles/hybrids to reduce power loss and heat generation and improve vehicle energy efficiency. Other products include transmission control chips, intelligent high side drivers, ranging sensors, EEPROM, on-board Ethernet protection chips and motor drive products.
