STMicroelectronics introduces a new development framework to make iot sensing faster and easier
STMicroelectronics has introduced BlueMicrosystem1 Open.Framework, a new development kit to accelerate the development of low-energy wireless sensor projects for Android or iOS Bluetooth. The BlueMicrosystem1 development framework is a total solution for temperature, humidity, pressure and/or motion/position data sensing, processing and sending functions, which is ideal for applications that require high performance, low power wireless sensors such as developing Internet of Things products and wearable devices.
The BlueMicrosystem1 framework software library includes a live motion sensor, as well as an example of a barometer application that accelerates design import by demonstrating how to develop a fully functional wireless sensor node. Developing a ready-to-use barometer application system is as simple as connecting three circuit boards. The three boards are the STM32 Nucleo F4 microcontroller board (Nucleo-F401RE), MEMS and environmental sensor X-NUCLEO expansion board (X-Nucleo-IKS01A1), and Bluetooth low-energy expansion board (X-Nucleo-IDB04A1).
The sensor expansion board contains a humidity/temperature sensor, MEMS pressure sensor, and inertial sensor module. The inertial module has a 3D digital accelerometer, a 3D digital gyroscope and a 3-axis MEMS magnetometer. Together, these sensors form a position detection system with 10 degrees of freedom (10 DOF)[1]. The Bluetooth expansion board includes a BlueNRG low-power network coprocessor with a built-in 2.4GHz RF transceiver. BlueMicrosystem1 includes a number of drivers for detecting RF transceivers and identifying sensors. The STM32 Nucleo microcontroller board is compatible with the full range of STM32 products, allowing developers to choose the most suitable microcontroller product model for their needs.
STMicroelectronics' Open software extension suite consists of Open.Framework, Open.MEMs and Open.RF, which includes drivers, middleware and application software. Help developers quickly launch iot and embedded design projects with a wide range of compatible and complementary products, including sensors and RF chips, to quickly prototype products using state-of-the-art components and reduce time to market.
