STMicroelectronics and Airbiquity jointly present an over-the-air update to automotive processor software

     STMicroelectronics and Airbiquity, a leading global provider of connected car services, At the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the largest event in the world for the mobile industry, ST's in-vehicle information services and Telemaco processors, which integrate Airbiquity software update management services, were jointly presented.

     The highlight of the product is the integration of Airbiquity's Over-The-Air (over-the-air) software data management service on ST's Telemaco3 Evaluation Board (EVB). By demonstrating how this technology protects consumers and their investment in vehicles, as well as manufacturers, the product highlights the challenges that can be found in various software update activity scenarios and typical original equipment manufacturer (OEM) software over-the-air update scenarios. Synergy between Airbiquity's cloud-connected car service and ST's Telemaco3 EVB in-vehicle platform.

     John Tuttle, vice president of engineering at Airbiquity, said: "After integrating our software data management services, the smart gateway platform based on the ST Telemaco3 processor can provide end-to-end over-the-air software updates to multiple in-vehicle information service controllers and ECUS.      The Telemaco family of processors provides high bandwidth connectivity channels (1Gb/ s ETH) and handles wireless data management tasks, which are often required for in-vehicle information services applications. In addition, on-board CAN bus control tasks can be handled through a separate and isolated Cortex-M subsystem, which hosts a dedicated real-time operating system. With its flexible memory and CPU core configurations, Telemaco processors enable system scalability to cover a wide range of automotive connected applications that require Linux OS and Posix OS.

     Software update and data acquisition for connected vehicle multi-ECU are highly targeted, scalable and secure, and Airbiquity's software data management solution ensures efficient collaboration and automation of the software update and data acquisition processes. The solution has a sophisticated back-office management function that is highly tuned to update campaign target audience, service configuration and release approval, and is flexible enough to easily meet the regional market, network capacity and IT hosting needs of the automotive industry.
