ST co-demonstrates automotive infotainment solutions at CES 2018

     At CES 2018, ST, Cinemo, and Valens are jointly demonstrating an optimized in-vehicle infotainment multimedia system. The software engine for the system is Cinemo's Distributed PlaybackTM in-vehicle media distribution system, which is connected to Valens' HDBaseT Automotive technology. The hardware platform is ST's Accordo5 automotive infotainment processor and Telemaco3P automotive information service processor.

     Infotainment systems are a core feature of connected cars, and as consumers increasingly demand connected and autonomous driving technologies, the driving experience that meets driver and passenger expectations is an important differentiator. Valens' HDBaseTAutomotive technology enables simultaneous transmission of HD audio and video, Ethernet, and control signals over a single unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable over distances of up to 15 meters, simplifying system connectivity and ensuring transmission performance despite some challenges posed by EMC environments.

     In conjunction with Valens' HDBaseT automotive chipset, Cinemo's Distributed PlaybackTM technology runs on ST's Accordo5 infotainment processor and Telemaco3P in-vehicle information services processor. Accordo5 is a cost-optimized infotainment processor solution, and Telemaco3P is a secure in-vehicle information services processor that provides secure Internet access and Wi-Fi connectivity to the car. The HDBaseTAutomotive chipset is also connected to the car's smart antenna and central processing unit.
