Qorvo introduces RF Fusion front-end module solutions to achieve new breakthroughs in functional integration
Qorvo announced the launch of a new generation of RF Fusion RF front-end (RFFE) modules, achieving a breakthrough in functional integration by bringing together mid-frequency/high-frequency modules. The new RF Fusion module uses Qorvo's unique combination of core capabilities to improve performance, reduce power consumption and overall solution size, while providing higher carrier aggregation capacity to meet the growing global coverage needs of smartphone manufacturers.
"Mobile devices now use more than 40 combinations of frequency bands and commonly used carrier aggregation bands, resulting in an exponential increase in the complexity of RF front ends. As a result, some vendors are turning to integrated RF front ends." "Oems are looking for integrated front-end solutions that can meet operators' increasingly demanding RF requirements while adapting to tight space constraints," said Chris Taylor, Strategy Analytics' Director of RF component Strategy.
Eric Creviston, President of Qorvo's Mobile Products Group, said: "We are very pleased with the increasing demand for Qorvo's most integrated FR Fusion™ modules. For the growing number of device manufacturers, the performance benefits of this module are obvious. RF Fusion can help improve performance, extend battery life, reduce the layout requirements of the mobile phone board, and accelerate the time to market. This fully integrated module is a more efficient solution that supports more features, including full support for commonly used carrier aggregation band combinations."
Qorvo's latest RF Fusion solution reduces the total number of RFFE configurations from four to two, including combined IF/HF modules, compared to the integrated front-end modules currently in use. When implemented with discrete components, up to 80 configurations may be required to achieve the same function. This reduction in numbers is very important. As the number of phone antennas increased from one to six or more, and the "full screen user experience" began to dominate, the layout of the RF core became more compact.
