Power Integrations introduces a new SCALE-2 plug and play gate driver that supports a wide range of IGBT modules

     Power Integration, a leader in IGBT and MOSFET driver technology for medium voltage and high voltage inverter applications, introduces the 1SP0350V SCALE™-2 single-channel +15/-10 V plug-and-play gate driver. The 1SP0350 gate driver is ideal for HVDC and rail transit industries that require high reliability applications, and safely and reliably drives 4500V Press-Pack IGBT and IEGT, as well as other IGBT and IEGT products. The new driver is based on Power Integrations' most widely used SCALE™-2 chipset and is equipped with dynamic Advanced Active Clamp (DAAC), short circuit protection, onboard DC-DC power supply, secondary +15V open voltage regulation, DC-DC overload monitoring, and power supply voltage monitoring.

     The driver is not limited to any particular IGBT package form, nor is it limited to any gate resistance configuration. This flexibility allowed the designers to experiment with various IGBT modules during development and was confident that the 1SP0350 V SCALE-2 plug and play gate driver would work best. Plug and play features speed up commissioning and enable immediate use after installation. In addition, the highly integrated SCALE-2 chipset can reduce the number of components by up to 85% compared to traditional solutions, thus significantly improving reliability.
