OmniOn Power Extends its Infinity Product Family with a new DC/DC converter

     OmniOn Power has added a new NE070DC58AZ DC/DC converter to its tested and dependable Infinity product family, catering to clients seeking increased versatility in powering radio equipment atop cell towers. The most recent additions to the Infinity-series product family increase and regulate the nominal direct current (DC) plant voltage from -48 VDC to -58 VDC, which is typically supplied by an Infinity S or Infinity M power system.

     The -58 VDC is supplied to a unified, integrated system bus structure before being distributed to loads via pluggable DC breakers that safeguard against overcurrent. The increased voltage facilitates a wider range and diminishes current flow in cables, thereby reducing heat dissipation and enhancing the overall efficacy of the system. For larger loads, the converters may be linked in parallel, and their N+1 redundancy configuration contributes to an increase in system dependability and remote radio head uptime.

     Uptime and dependability are critical in critical infrastructure, including wireless networks, according to OmniOn Power. This is one reason why redundancy is incorporated into telecom power systems. When network infrastructure implements battery backup, the battery voltage may decline below the power system’s standard operating voltage during discharge. This may cause the power to the remote radio head to drop below the minimal operating voltages, potentially resulting in the shutdown of the devices.
