ON Semiconductor introduces low-static current 4-channel and 6-channel switches to support next-generation high-speed interfaces

     ON Semiconductor, the premier provider of high-performance silicon solutions for energy-efficient electronics, introduces two new multichannel differentially switched integrated circuits (ics) in single-pole double-throw (SPDT) switching configurations. For high frequency signals such as PCI Express 3.0 and DisplayPort 1.2 input/output (I/O) signals, target applications include notebooks, desktop computers, servers and network storage devices.

     The 6-channel differential SPDT switch NCN3612B supports data transfer rates of 8 Gbps due to its high bandwidth. It has a conducting capacity (CON) of 2.1 pF(typical value) and a conducting resistance (RDSON) of 8 Ω(typical value). This device is complemented by the 4-channel differential switch NCN3411, which also supports 8 Gbps operation. The NCN3411 has a conducting capacity of 2 pF(typical value) and a conducting resistance (RDSON) of 7.5 Ω(typical value). These features make the new devices ideal for PCI Express 3.0 and DispalyPort 1.2 I/O signal routing.

     Thibault Kassir, Director of Interface and Power Products at ON Semiconductor, said: "The NCN3612B and NCN3411 have inherently low on-conduction capacities and low on-resistance, allowing them to deliver lower data edge rates and lower insertion losses. As a result, these devices provide the required level of signal integrity with the latest high-speed interface standards specified in today's system designs."

     The NCN3612B has a supply voltage range of 3 volts (V) to 3.6 V and consumes only 250 microamperes (µA) of supply current (typical). The NCN3411 has a supply voltage range of 1.5 V to 2.0 V and consumes a supply current of 200 µA. These new devices operate at ambient temperatures ranging from −40 °C to +85 °C
