ON Semiconductor expands low-power wireless solutions with SIGFOX and ARM for rapid iot implementation

Working in collaboration with SIGFOX, a leading global provider focused on IoT connectivity, AX-SFEU System-on-chip (SoC) has confirmed full SIGFOX Ready™ certification in Europe for optimal two-way communication, while certification is underway in the United States. With the AX-SF SoC, along with its libraries and development systems, IoT developers will be able to easily use SIGFOX's remote, two-way global IoT network to create low-cost, low-power device-to-cloud connectivity solutions.

     Working in collaboration with SIGFOX, a leading global provider focused on IoT connectivity, AX-SFEU System-on-chip (SoC) has confirmed full SIGFOX Ready™ certification in Europe for optimal two-way communication, while certification is underway in the United States. With the AX-SF SoC, along with its libraries and development systems, IoT developers will be able to easily use SIGFOX's remote, two-way global IoT network to create low-cost, low-power device-to-cloud connectivity solutions. Highly optimized for environmental sensors, smart meters, patient monitors, security equipment, street lights and a wide range of other industrial and consumer-oriented applications.

     The AX-SF SoC consumes less than 10 milliamps (mA) of current when receiving data, has a sensitivity of -129 dB milliwatts (dBm), a transmission rate of 600 bits per second (bps), and uses GFSK modulation. The reference design eliminates the need for an expensive front-end module and uses a 23 dBm transmitter that consumes only 220 mA of current, allowing designers to significantly expand communication range while maximizing battery life.

     ON Semiconductor also announced that it has become an official ARM® mbed™ partner. The 2.4 gigahertz (GHz) IEEE 802.15.4-compliant transceiver NCS36510 platform will contain the mbed OS and Thread stack. Using the ARM mbed ecosystem in combination with Thread will once again prove extremely beneficial to IoT developers, helping them create more agile, robust, and cost-effective solutions with end-to-end security and lower power budgets that better meet their usage needs.
