New Vishay rectifiers save space, increase power density and improve thermal performance

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the availability of 13 200V to 600VFRED Pt ultra-fast recovery rectifiers. All are packaged in eSMP series SlimDPAK(TO-252AE). Each product is available in automotive and commercial /I grade versions. Vishay Semiconductors rectifiers are thinner than traditional DPAK(TO-252AA) packaged devices, have better thermal performance, higher power density and higher efficiency, and can be used in automotive and communications applications.

     The device is only 1.3mm tall and has forward currents up to 10A for 200V rectifiers and 15A for 600V rectifiers. The device occupies the same space as the DPAK package and is 43% thinner, making the final product thinner, while its heat dissipation area is 14% larger, making the thermal resistance lower. In addition, the new 15A rectifier can replace D2PAK(TO-263AB) packaged devices.

     The rectifier uses FREDPt technology to achieve an ultra-fast recovery time of 14ns and an ultra-small reverse recovery charge, enabling soft recovery over the entire operating temperature range of -55C to +175°C. The forward voltage drop of the device at 4A is only 0.71V, effectively reducing power loss and improving efficiency. Rectifiers are AEC-Q101 certified to automotive grade standards and typical applications include automotive engine control units (ECUs), anti-lock braking systems (ABS), HID and DC/DC converters in LED lighting, while commercial/industrial versions are suitable for communication power supplies.

     The moisture sensitivity of the new rectifier reaches Class 1 of the J-STD-020 standard with a maximum LF peak of +260C. The device is RoHS compliant and halogen-free, ideal for automatic mounting and automatic optical inspection (AOI) in automotive systems.
