The new NXP SAF5400 is the world The first automotive standard compliant high-performance single-chip DSRC modem features a unique scalable architecture, industry-leading new security features and advanced RFCMOS and software-defined radio (SDR) technology, giving Oems the flexibility to deploy secure V2X across regions and perform field upgrades.

     V2X technology allows vehicles to communicate with other cars, infrastructure, pedestrians and cyclists to improve driver safety and enable a smooth autonomous driving experience. The DSRC/802.11p version of V2X offers the shortest real-time communication latency, with a range of more than 1 mile, even in areas without cellular connectivity. DSRC also provides specialized safe channel operations to ensure real-time secure communication of safety information and other data, making it an important part of the autonomous driving sensor suite in today's connected vehicles. Dsrc-based V2X will also help drive in truck queues, a precursor to the future of environmentally friendly driving.

     The NXP SAF5400 modem integrates advanced transceiver technology with complete baseband, MAC layer and firmware into a complete single-chip stand-alone modem that delivers superior RF performance across the industry-leading operating range in all channel conditions and is the industry's first single-chip modem that can verify more than 2,000 messages per second. The SAF5400 architecture is fully scalable and works with application processors such as NXP's powerful i.MX family, security systems, power management systems and in-vehicle networking solutions
Combined as part of NXP's secure V2X system platform.

     For maximum security, NXP offers the SXF 1800. The SXF1800 is a dedicated hardware security element based on the technology used in the most sensitive applications in the world today the sense of security environment, such as electronic passports, bank cards, smart phones, and now applied to the car. After third-party security assessment and certification, SXF1800 has strong anti-detection and anti-tamper features. V2X security requirements can also be met through the software capabilities of NXP i.MX processors, providing customers with a performance/cost trade-off.

     The secure single-chip V2X solution integrates NXP's software-defined radio technology to provide customers with a platform that can be supported with a single hardware solution different regional standards. This greatly reduces development, certification, and maintenance efforts and eases the difficulty of launching V2X globally. With NXP's RFCMOS technology, analog RF and digital baseband processing are integrated into an ultra-compact single chip for smaller hardware sizes.

     Kurt Sievers, Executive vice president and general manager of NXP's Automotive Electronics division, said: "NXP provides a secure single-chip V2X platform that will help us save lives by improving vehicles' ability to see blind spots.      The NXP V2X system platform operates in the 59 GHz and 760MHz bands and is compatible with global software protocols from all leading vendors, enabling a truly global V2X solution. The NXP V2X system platform meets and exceeds the current guidelines of the U.S. Department of Transportation's "NPRM, "as well as the latest standards in Europe, Japan and South Korea.
