NXP introduces the S32V234 Vision and Sensor Fusion processor
The S32V234 vision and Sensor fusion processor from NXP Semiconductors. The S32V234 is designed to support secure, compute-intensive applications in vision and sensor fusion scenarios, including applications such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), forward-looking cameras, pedestrian and object recognition, circumnavigation, and machine learning.
The NXPS32V234 processor combines a powerful and efficient CPU, GPU, and image processor to deliver high-performance processing, visual acceleration, and security. The processor integrates four Arm@Cortex@-A53 cores running at up to 1GHz, a NEON coprocessor, and an ArmCortex-M4CPU. With the Cortex-M4, the automotive operating system can interact with external devices without the Cortex-A53CPU.
The S32V234 processor offers 4MB of on-chip system RAM as well as two 32-bit DRAM controllers that support LPDDR2/DDR3/DDR3L, and has end-to-end ECC on all memory. For image processing and vision capabilities, the device includes two APEX-2 vision accelerators, a GC30003DGPU with circumnavigation, MIPICSI2, parallel image sensor interfaces, and an embedded image signal processor. The S32V234 also offers an impressive array of connectivity features, including gigabit Ethernet, Zipwire serial interface, dual CAN-FD interface, dual-channel FlexRay communication, and a PCIExpress(PCle) channel.
The S32V234 processor provides a wealth of security features, including a Dynamic AES decryption engine (OTFAD) and a Secure Hardware Extension (SHE) protocol compliant Encryption Service engine (CSE). The device also provides automotive safety compliance features developed through NXP's SafeAssureT program to help manufacturers' systems comply with ISO26262 and IEC61508 functional safety standards.
The S32V234 processor comes with the accompanying SBC-S32V234Vision Prototype suite, which offers Linux(Yocto) and AutoSAR operating system options. The SBC-S32V234 suite has a complete set of support tools and is also supported by the S32 DesignStudio Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
