Murata has unveiled its groundbreaking Type 2GT module, a multi-band LoRa module that marks a notable leap forward in the development of IoT devices needing versatile wireless connectivity. This highly integrated module stands out by providing a comprehensive solution that caters to the complex demands of global certification standards, enabling seamless deployment in diverse regions and industries.

     Murata has introduced the breakthrough type 2GT module, a multi-band LoRa module that marks a significant leap forward in the development of iot devices that require multifunctional wireless connectivity. This highly integrated module stands out by providing a comprehensive solution to meet the complex needs of global certification standards, enabling seamless deployment across geographies and industries.

     The Model 2GT module measures 9.98mm x 8.7mm x 1.74mm, is built on a PCB inside a metal housing and is packaged as a terrestrial grid array. The technical prowess of the module is highlighted by the use of Semtech's advanced LR1121 RF transceiver IC, TCXO, second 32KHz crystal, RF switch and RF matching network. These components ensure the highest frequency accuracy and reliable performance in different environmental conditions. For end-device designers, this means simpler, smaller PCB designs, shorter time to market and lower development costs due to the module's easy integration and simplified certification process.

     The module supports multiple frequency bands, including sub-GHz band, 2.4GHz ISM band and 2.1GHz satellite communication s band, emphasizing flexibility and scalability to meet the needs of various iot applications such as smart agriculture, industrial and environmental sensing, building and home automation. Other markets that could benefit from the module's capabilities include asset tracking, utility metering, remote-controlled toys, and drones. Support for the 2.4GHz ISM band enables higher data rates and global common channel plans, and also allows designers to avoid the duty cycle restrictions imposed by European standards on sub-GHz communications.

     The company's modules are certified to European CE and U.S. FCC standards, Japanese TELEC standards, and Canadian IC standards, allowing designers to reuse module RF test reports between different certification bodies. This will significantly lower compliance barriers and foster innovation across the iot ecosystem, serving users across multiple geographies.
