Murata Innovative open power supplies for medical and industrial applications

     Murata Manufacturing Limited has extended its open-frame AC power supply to the new PQC600 DC power supply. The device has a high efficiency and power intensive design to meet the requirements of the latest medical and industrial applications, such as hospital beds, dental chairs, medical equipment and industrial process machinery.

     Compact, reliable and efficient are the basic requirements of contemporary power supplies. With its compact size and high power density, this industrial-grade device is an excellent choice to meet these needs, delivering 600W of power in a package less than 1U in height. Its reliable performance in medical and industrial environments is certified by IEC 60601-1 Edition 3 Medical Safety Standard, which includes 2 MOPPs from primary to secondary, 1 MOPP from chassis to ground and 1 MOPP from output to chassis. In addition, the device complies with the IEC 60601-1-2 Edition 4 EMC standard, ensuring strong electromagnetic compatibility and suitable for use with medical devices with Type B or BF application components.

     The unit uses Murata Power Solutions' (MPS) custom transformer design and optimized layout and packaging design. With a 600W forced-air cooling design, it achieves an impressive 95% efficiency at full load. The power supply features optimized interlaced PFC and synchronous rectification at the back end, all in a compact layered design that ensures superior thermal performance. In addition, the PQC600 includes a droop current sharing feature that allows multiple units to be configured in parallel for greater power scalability.
