Melexis has further expanded its portfolio with the release of new high-speed inductive location decoder chips

     Melexis releases MLX90517 to further expand its portfolio of inductive location decoders. With an external compensation algorithm, the MLX90517 ensures accuracy of better than 0.36° at up to 660,000e-rpm without the need for any chip programming. The product family is used in electrical applications including electronic power steering, traction motors, and brake boosters. MLX90517 is a useful complement to MLX90510 by providing the original signal for off-chip compensation in the ECU.

     MLX90517 works with a set of PCB-based coils. The Settings can be easily adjusted according to the number of poles of the motor. Support for both on-shaft (axle-end) and off-shaft (axle-side or axle-through) induction modes enables engineers to choose from a variety of coil deployments for reliable, accurate sensing under harsh mechanical constraints. The three-phase coil design enhances the linear processing capability through harmonic filtering, which is not possible with the two-coil system.

     MLX90517 is an ASIL C-level SEooC (Independent Security Unit) developed according to the ISO 26262 standard and supports the integration of ASIL D systems. Withstand extremely complex electrical environments with built-in overvoltage and reverse polarity protection (±24V for power supply and ±18V for output). The device is AEC-Q100 certified and operates at temperatures ranging from -40℃ to +160℃. The device is packaged in TSSOP-16.
