Littelfuse introduces the Q200 standard PolySwitch family of self-restoring PPTC devices for automotive use

     Littelfuse, the global leader in circuit protection, today announced the launch of three PolySwitch self-restoring polymer positive Temperature coefficient (PPTC) devices in line with AEC-Q200. These surface-mount devices are designed to provide complete overcurrent protection in extremely harsh automotive environments. Unlike fuses, self-restoring PPTC does not need to be replaced after a failure; When the power supply is removed and/or the overcurrent condition disappears, the circuit will return to normal operation.

     Compared to the existing 2920 ASMD Series surface mount PPTC, the largest of the new devices, the 2920 ASMDC series, is smaller and has no heavy metal terminals. It also has the highest holding current and rated voltage of the three. The smallest of the new devices, the 0603 gauge femtoASMD series and the 0805 gauge picoASMD series, are suitable for automotive electronic boards with limited space.

     Typical applications of the ASMDC, femtoASMD and picoASMD series of self-recovery PPTC include automotive infotainment, communications (GPS navigation), networking (CAN bus, LIN bus), body electronics (door locks, lumbar pumps), security systems (keyless entry), Rear-view camera), ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), and air conditioning system.
