Lattice updates O-RAN stack to promote 5G small cell development
Lattice Semiconductor Corporation announced the latest update to its Lattice O-RAN stack, bringing low power consumption and flexible bridging capabilities to 5G small cell sites. This update marks an important step for Lattice in advancing the development of 5G technology.
With the latest update, Lattice has introduced a new 5G data path reference design for outdoor integrated radio applications. The design is designed to help customers improve wireless infrastructure in smart factories, smart cities, smart cars and more. Lattice's solutions make it easier for users to deploy and manage 5G networks to meet growing data demands.
Lattice's O-RAN solution stack is designed to accelerate the deployment of secure, adaptable O-RAN systems and applications. As an open and flexible wireless access network architecture, O-RAN is gradually becoming an important part of 5G networks. Lattice's solution stack simplifies the development of O-RAN systems by providing integrated hardware and software components, reducing development costs and accelerating time to market.
The solution stack features PCIe Gen3 x4 to JESD204B x4 interface bridging, as well as support for 4T4R (four send and four receive) on medium power RF (radio frequency) amplifiers, enabling 100 MHz IBW (instantaneous bandwidth) /OBW (occupied bandwidth). These features enable Lattice's solutions to meet the needs of outdoor integrated radio applications while providing superior performance and reliability.
In addition, Lattice offers a 5G data path reference design that complies with O-RAN option 0 separation. Option 0 separation is a key concept in the O-RAN architecture that allows radio units (RU) and distributed units (DU) to be separated for more flexible network deployment and scaling. Lattice's solutions are fully compatible with this standard, providing users with greater flexibility and choice.
