Lattice joins Mikroprojekt to launch an advanced system development platform for network edge applications
Lattice Semiconductor and Mikroprojekt are launching a new ECP5 FPGA-based development platform to accelerate system design for network edge applications in communications and industry, including HetNet small cells, industrial iot gateways, and IP camera applications. Mikroprojekt's Kondor AX development platform uses Lattice's low-power, small-size ECP5 FPGA, which provides flexible interface interconnections and high-performance DSPS for image filtering and data analysis. The development board also comes with a separate general-purpose CPU that supports the Linux operating system for system control.
Deepak Boppana, Director of Product Marketing at Lattice Semiconductor, said: "From HetNet small cell, micro server and millimeter wave backrange applications in communications to IP video surveillance cameras, HMI displays and iot gateway applications in the industrial sector, there is a growing demand for intelligent interconnect and computing solutions at the network edge. System design engineers for these applications often face tough challenges in terms of power consumption, size, and cost. The Kondor AX development platform uses Lattice's low-power, small-size ECP5 FPGas to help engineers easily implement programmable interconnect and compute acceleration capabilities for these applications."
ECP5 FPgas support several common interface standards, including CPRI, JESD204B, and PCI Express. To make it easy for engineers to connect the platform to networks, displays, and other peripherals, the platform also has several standard interfaces, including HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, USB OTG, FMC, SFP, LVDS, and GPIO. At the same time, the development platform also supports Linux-based operating systems, and can use a large number of applications and a rich software library.
