Laird Connectivity's Summit SOM 8M Plus System Module (SOM)

     Laird Connectivity's Summit SOM 8M Plus System Module (SOM). It is a fully integrated hardware and software solution that combines NXP's multi-core processing, dual-band 2x2 Wi-Fi® 5 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity for multi-purpose advanced IoT applications such as robotics and machine learning.

     The Summit SOM 8M Plus module enables powerful heterogeneous multiprocessing based on a versatile, energy-efficient, quad-core 1.6GHz Cortex®-A53 microprocessor and 800MHz Cortex-M7 microcontroller. By integrating the i.MX 8M Plus SoC with the Summit SOM 8M Plus, customers can leverage hardware acceleration for complex Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications such as machine learning. The integrated solution features 2.3 TOPS neural processing units and rich multimedia capabilities (with DSP kernel), and integrates graphics processing units (Gpus).

     Offering a variety of ports, the Summit SOM 8M Plus supports up to three monitors and offers a variety of video output, camera and audio I/O options. The onboard Cortex-A53 and Cortex-M7 kernels enable simultaneous execution of the Linux® and RTOS user interfaces, speeding up the time to market.

     Laird Connectivity Summit SOM 8M Plus is the Summit SOM 8M Plus Development Kit, which is also available at Maoze Electronics. The development kit provides reference designs for components such as display, camera, audio, LTE, GPS, USB 3.0 power, and comes with a wealth of interfaces that support multiple audio, camera, video output, and I/O options.
