Infineon multimode flyback controllers improve the performance and reduce power consumption of mid - to high-end LED lighting
Infineon Technologies introduces a multimode flyback controller IC for LED applications. It can shorten the lamp "lighting time", save the number of devices, reduce the running and standby power consumption. Designed to meet the performance and efficiency requirements of mid-to-high-end LED designs, the IRS2982S is a versatile controller solution for a variety of indoor, outdoor, office and factory lighting solutions.
The IRS2982S is equipped with a 600 V high voltage starting unit, which allows the "light up time" to be less than 0.5 seconds and saves the external voltage resistance. Configurable Critical on-mode (CrCM) and Intermittent on-mode (DCM) ensure that it meets a wide variety of application requirements and is suitable for dimming LED converter designs in the full current range. The main application of IRS2982S is isolated flyback converters in CV(constant voltage) mode, but it can also be flexibly used in other topologies such as non-isolated flyback converters in CC/CV mode, buck converters, boost converters and SEPIC(single-ended primary inductor converters).
To keep power consumption to a minimum, the IRS2982S supports a Burst-mode that ensures ultra-low standby power consumption. The device supports a wide range of input voltages, from 85 VAC to 305 VAC, with overvoltage and overcurrent protection. The optimized single-stage PFC/ flyback design ensures a power factor greater than 0.9 and a THD(total harmonic distortion) of less than 20%.
