Infineon has introduced a new PDM microphone in a small package with ultra-low power consumption
Infineon Technologies has been the market leader in MEMS microphones for three years in a row. According to a recent research report released by Omdia, Infineon's share of the microphone nude manufacturing market increased to a staggering 45% in 2022. Infineon has achieved this feat by leveraging our deep experience in MEMS microphone design and mass production to help customers create an unparalleled experience for consumers.
Infineon's MEMS microphone development strategy covers the main building blocks MEMS, ASics, and packaging of this sensor family. As a result, Infineon fully controls the performance, quality and technological innovation of its products. Infineon now builds on its indigenous technology with the introduction of its latest XENSIV™ MEMS microphone product, an ultra-low power digital microphone IM69D128S.
This microphone is designed for applications requiring a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)/low self-noise, long-lasting battery life, and high reliability. Its excellent 69 dB(A) signal-to-noise ratio delivers crystal-clear sound quality without compromising battery life. With its advanced digital microphone ASIC, the IM69D128S sets a new benchmark in power consumption: 520 uA. That's about half the power consumption of similar products on the market. In addition, when switching between different power consumption and performance, there is often abnormal noise (that is, can be heard by the user), and IM69D128S is perfect to avoid this problem.
The PDM (pulse density modulation) microphone uses Infineon's latest sealed dual diaphragm MEMS technology to achieve up to IP57 level of protection on semiconductor devices. The ultra-low-power IM69D128S is ideal for audio applications where battery life is critical, such as true wireless headphones, headsets, and hearing enhancement devices. In addition, with its small size and high performance, it is suitable for space-demanding applications such as wearables, smartphones and Internet of Things devices.
