Infineon Digital SupIRBuck speeds customers' products to market

     Infineon Technologies introduces the PMBus SupIRBuck voltage regulator family. This family of devices is an easy-to-use, fully integrated high efficiency DC-DC regulator with an I2C/PMBus interface. The SupIRBuck regulator integrates a PWM controller, MOSFETs, and bootstrap diodes, making it a space-saving motherboard solution that provides accurate power output for low output voltage and high current applications. Thanks to a programmable digital interface with remote telemetry, customers can reduce design and test time by up to 90 percent, greatly accelerating time to market. In addition, this highly integrated family of devices can reduce board space by up to 50% compared to traditional dual-chip solutions.

     The new SupIRBuck regulators are ideal for applications such as data centers, network storage, wireless infrastructure, large-scale computing, industrial automation, and more. The device enables comprehensive configuration through PMBus and configuration examples stored in the internal memory. In addition, 75 PMBus instructions support precise real-time control, fault condition monitoring and telemetry of parameters such as input voltage (Vin), output voltage (Vout), output current (Iout), temperature (T) and output power (Pout). The new synchronous step-down regulator also works as a standard analog regulator without any programming and supports analog current and temperature telemetry.

     Infineon offers the IR38060 in a PQFN5x6 package with an output current of 6A. In addition, the output currents of the IR38062, IR38063 and IR38064 in the PQFN5x7 package are 15 A, 25 A and 35 A respectively. The operating temperature range of the devices is -40 °C to +125 °C. The new regulator supports switching frequencies up to 1.5MHz and achieves high telemetry accuracy (Iout +/- 5%).
