Industrial chargers use a new generation of SiC power semiconductors to reduce the temperature
Navitas Semiconductor announced that Exide Technologies' next-generation high frequency fast charger for industrial material handling equipment features a new, leading-edge GeneSiC power semiconductor that delivers reliability, safety, ease of use and optimal charging. SiC is a new type of "wide band gap" power semiconductor material that is rapidly replacing traditional silicon chips in high-power, high-voltage applications, including renewable energy, energy storage and microgrids, electric vehicles and industrial applications.
GeneSiC "Channel-assisted Planar grid" SiC MOSFET technology offers uncompromising, efficient, high-speed performance that results in shell temperature reductions of up to 25 ° C and a life extension of up to 3 times longer than replacement SiC products. GeneSiC mosfet has the highest avalanche test capability of 100%, long short circuit tolerance time of 30% and stable threshold voltage, easy parallel connection, ideal for high-power, rapid-to-market applications.
Exide's high-frequency chargers convert 220VAC power to 24V to 80V battery voltages for industrial vehicles powered by lead acid and lithium ions. The 7kW module uses GeneSiC G3R60MT07D (750V) mosfet and GD10MPS12A (1200v) MPS Schottky diodes with a frequency optimized architecture. The same platform can be upgraded to 10kW, with four modules in parallel, providing 40kW of reliable fast charging power.
