Harwin Advanced interactive cable configurator unveiled

     Harwin has announced an innovative and highly intuitive standalone cable configuration tool at electronica 2024. The Harwin cable configurator was developed in partnership with Cadenas, a leading software developer in strategic part management and part reduction. The Harwin cable configurator enables engineers to develop the "right first time" configuration online and then deliver it to the target application, significantly reducing the time engineers spend designing cable assemblies.

     Historically, engineers developing cable assemblies had to create their designs, place multiple orders for connectors and cables, manually put everything together, and then spend time testing and troubleshooting. The easy-to-navigate configurator is fully integrated into the company's automated processes and now enables engineers to quickly develop fully functional configurations that ensure they meet specifications and can be delivered within a short lead time.

     "Harwin Cable Configurator will make the job of developing cable assemblies as easy as possible for engineers, freeing them to spend their time on other aspects of product development," said Peter Schneid, vice president of marketing at Harwin. "Unlike other tools that are 'fixed' on manufacturer or third-party websites, we have invested significant resources in working with Cadenas and creating a supporting infrastructure that is fully integrated with Harwin's existing ordering and manufacturing processes." As a result, the tool makes the design and procurement process as seamless, intuitive and fast as possible."

     With the new tool, users can configure the company's high-performance, high-reliability connectors in single - or double-ended cable assemblies by simplifying the selection of several key design parameters. The 3D rendering, created in real time, can then be downloaded along with technical drawings, a complete bill of materials, and the option to request a quote. A dedicated product specialist will then confirm the price and delivery time, which is usually a matter of days. If necessary, users can reverse engineer the design to generate configurations and quotes for existing solutions.
