Four-port SSDS accelerate data-rich autonomous driving and AI-enabled vehicle workloads
Micron Technology is testing the automotive-grade Micron 4150AT SSD, the world's first four-port SSD capable of interfacing with up to four SOCs for centralized storage for software-defined smart cars. The company is currently offering samples of SSDS to automotive customers around the world. With a capacity of up to 1.8 terabytes, the drive provides efficient storage of AI algorithms, large language models, advanced infotainment and telemetry data for next-generation vehicles.
SSDS combine market-leading features such as single-root input/output virtualization (SR-IOV), PCIe 4th-generation interfaces, and rugged automotive design. With these capabilities, automotion-grade SSDS provide the ecosystem with data center-level flexibility and power.

This SSD brings enterprise-class speed to consumer vehicles, with random read and write speeds of over 600,000 IOPS and 100,000 IOPS, respectively, for 4kB transfers. This high performance enables the drive to efficiently manage data streams from multiple SOCs simultaneously, making it an ideal solution for vehicles that are increasingly multitasking with a variety of systems, from ADAS to IVI to AI-enabled cockpit experiences.
Inspired by the design of data center SSDS, the company built its SSDS to deliver powerful, customizable functionality, but tailored to the unique challenges of next-generation vehicle architectures. These features include multi-port capabilities, virtualization, enhanced security and customizable durability modes that are designed for the stringent requirements of the automotive industry.
