     FTDI will introduce the highly anticipated new generation of Embedded Video Engine (EVE) - FT81xQ series, a series of four new chips that will enhance EVE products and enable more advanced human-machine interfaces. These new EVE products support higher screen resolution, compared to the previous FT800Q/801Q, the resolution has been increased from 512x512 to 800x600, In turn, it can support panels 7 inches and larger for use in devices such as point-of-sales units and information kiosks.

     The FT810Q has an 18-bit RGB port and resistive touch function, while the FT811Q is an 18-bit RGB port with a 5-point capacitive touch function, and the FT812Q and FT813Q have the same resistive/capacitive touch function but use a 24-bit RGB port.

     The FT81xQ series, due to the improved capabilities of the algorithm, can show smoother video playback, including the screen rotation of 90 degrees, whether it is portrait or landscape can be easily supported, which will make these ics more convenient to use in handheld devices. Memory has also been increased to 1MBytes from the previous 256KBytyes. The 4-channel QSPI port also speeds up data transfer rates. In addition, whether it supports the color palette (Multiple palettes), 16-bit and 32-bit color depth and transparency, or in order to let the text display has more choices and the addition of large ROM fonts are more rich in its functionality.

     These new ics are highly compatible with the previous generation EVE resistive (FT800) and capacitive (FT801). The main difference lies in the improvement of performance, such as the JPEG loading speed is 500 to 1000 times faster, and the new EVE can draw 16 pixels per clock compared with the FT800/801 can draw 4 pixels per clock. Memory-related firmware operations (such as copy, fill, and CRC) are 2 to 4 times faster, and the SNAPSHOT instructions are hundreds of times faster because of these hardware and software optimizations. In addition, the FT812/FT813 has an additional analog input foot, which can be used to detect sensors such as temperature or light, and can also be used to input sound.

     As the founder and CEO of FTDI stated, "In the two years since the EVE product was launched, we have seen widespread acceptance and adoption by customers because the concept has greatly simplified the architecture of the human interface. These new features, such as higher resolution, more color depth, more storage space and audio input capabilities, are now available to engineers to make a more refined human-machine interface to enhance the overall user experience."

     FTDI's top EVE technology integrates display, sound, and touch functions on an IC, an innovative human-machine interface implementation that processes graphics, superposition, fonts, templates, audio, and so on as objects. EVE turns the original pixel-by-pixel processing into line-by-line processing, and can control to 1/16 point accuracy with a simple single-chip computer, without requiring large flash memory, large memory (frame buffer) or high-end microprocessor. In addition, built-in sound and touch functions require no additional controls, all thanks to the high-level integrated visual object concept. The EVE series greatly reduces the product development time, original cost, and circuit board area in the development of human-machine interfaces.
