Diodes Advanced grooved super barrier rectifiers provide top efficiency

     Diodes Incorporated's two new 40A rectiators, the SBRTF40U100CT and the SBRTF40U100CTFP, use the patented Trench SBR technology to significantly reduce power consumption and operating temperature. The new product can be used as an output rectifier for power adapters and fast chargers for smartphones, tablets and flat panel TVS, effectively improving efficiency by up to 2% while reducing operating temperatures by up to 10°C.

     The SBRTF40U100CT and SBRTF40U100CTFP rectifiers have a number of features that reduce overall power consumption, including enabling new applications to operate at lower temperatures or avoiding the high cost of modifying proven designs to comply with tighter temperature limits. The ultra-low 0.27V forward voltage drop for both devices reduces power consumption at 2A forward current. The maximum reverse leakage current is only 0.5mA at 100V reverse voltage, which can improve energy efficiency, especially at high operating temperatures.

     Both rectifiers offer an average rectified output current of up to 40A. In addition, they can handle forward inrush currents of up to 200A and are therefore able to withstand a large number of short periods of non-repetitive peak currents. These rugged devices offer an avalanche rating of 340mJ and can withstand unclamped switching conditions due to inductors and other damaged components.
