Cypress launches a controller for mobile phones
Cypress Semiconductor introduces the TMA140 TrueTouch controller for lower cost mobile phones. The new family offers high-performance touch screen control for screens up to 5 inches, including multi-finger control support and the industry's best signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). In addition, the new controller supports Cypress's patent-pending Charger Armor feature, which avoids false touch issues caused by extra noise from the charger through technologies such as adaptive frequency hopping.
The new TMA140 series delivers high-performance multi-touch capabilities within the budget limits of feature phones. This low-power series not only controls the accuracy within 0.5 mm, but also provides a variety of gesture control functions and works perfectly with the Android system, and is currently in mass production.
The TMA140 has been carefully designed to work perfectly with Cypress's single-layer standalone multi-touch sensor, the SLIM. SLIM is a true single base single layer ITO touch screen sensor. Unlike competing solutions, it does not require additional insulation or Bridges, resulting in a cost reduction of approximately 40% compared to multi-touch sensors and a significant reduction in the thickness of the sensor module. The perfect combination of the TMA140 and SLIM brings the lowest cost multi-touch solution to the market, enabling the cost budget of feature phones to support multi-touch capabilities.
