Cypress and Arrow Electronics launch iot development platform

     Cypress Semiconductor Corporation, a leader in wireless connectivity solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT), and Arrow Electronics Corporation , a global technology solutions provider, announced the launch of a new iot development platform to help engineers bring a wide range of iot products to market quickly.

     The new Quicksilver suite uses Cypress's Embedded Device Wireless Connectivity (WICED) platform and integrates Cypress's CYW43907 802.11n Wi-Fi microcontroller (MCU) for stable and reliable connectivity. The suite is expected to be released in July 2017, while the fourth quarter of this year will also see the release of a second Quicksilver suite that provides a high-performance 802.11ac Wi-Fi solution to enable high data rates and rich media experiences in iot applications.

     In addition to connecting products to the cloud for full implementation of exciting iot capabilities, customers engaged in development also want to reduce time to market. The WICED Quicksilver suite gives engineers more flexibility to build projects quickly and then design for improvements over time. Customers can quickly test the market with a single certified module that offers a complete suite of cloud connectivity software, and then transition to cost - or performance-driven production solutions while maintaining hardware and software compatibility.

     The first Quicksilver kit will provide users with all the design capabilities they need to deploy the WICED Studio SDK, with an Arduino-compatible expansion plug. The suite includes temperature, humidity, and three-axis motion sensors to design complete and advanced iot devices for a wide range of end markets such as factory automation, lighting, smart irrigation, home appliances, and home automation.
