Avago introduces two GaAs balanced low noise amplifiers
Avago Technologies announced the launch of two ultra-low Noise, high gain and high linearity GaAs balanced Low noise amplifiers (LNA) ideal for mobile network infrastructure applications. Avago's MGA-16516/17516 is the latest in a family of low-cost, easy-to-use low-noise amplifiers that dramatically improve the sensitivity and dynamic range of mobile network infrastructure applications. Both products have a compact size arrangement and are designed for use as first-stage amplifiers. Typical applications include mobile network base station transceiver RF cards, tower top amplifiers, waveform binders, Repeaters, and remote/digital RF. Avago is a leader in analog interface components for communications, industrial and consumer applications.
Avago's MGA-16516/17516 low noise amplifier is in a 4mm x 4mm x 0.85mm high surface mount 16-pin QFN package and is developed in Avago's unique 0.25μm GaAs enhanced mode pHEMT process. The MGA-16516 operates in the 500 to 1,700MHz band and the MGA-17516 in the 1,700 to 2,700 MHz band, which enables Avago's mobile network to support the full spectrum of GSM, CDMA, UMTS and the next generation LTE. The MGA-16516/17516 is designed to match the input/output of amplifiers with the 3dB hybrid couplers commonly found in mobile network base stations, waveform combos, and the front end of transceiver RF cards.
In a typical operating environment of 5V and 50mA per channel, the MGA-16516 can provide a noise index of 0.45dB, a gain of 17.5dB, an input third-order intercept (IIP3) of 11.5dBm, and a P1dB output power of 18dBm at 850MHz, under the same operating conditions. Operating at 1850MHz, the MGA-17516 provides a better 0.52dB noise index, 17.2dB gain, 13.7dBm IIP3, and 21.5dBm P1dB.
