Analog Devices introduces a new generation of low-power bioelectrical analog front ends
The world's leading semiconductor company introduces a new generation of low-power bioelectric Analog front End (AFE) that enables smaller, lighter, stealthy cardiac monitoring Devices with longer battery life. The AD8233 AFE is a fully integrated single-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) front-end designed to be a compact, easy-to-use device. Often, developers need to design the ECG front end with a single device, which increases cost and design time. The highly integrated, ready-to-use AD8233 AFE eliminates these unnecessary costs and extra time, helping developers bring products to market faster.
In addition, the device's ultra-small size of 2.0mm x 1.7mm enables wearable health devices to be smaller, lighter and easier to wear. For patients, wearing a large, bulky, conspicuous monitor can be uncomfortable and even interfere with daily life. The long battery life ensures that the heart monitor can be continuously monitored to provide accurate data and does not have to be interrupted by battery charging or replacement, so it is a crucial feature. The power consumption of the AD8233 AFE is in the microamperage level, which greatly extends the battery life.
In addition to its small size, the single-supply (1.7V to 3.5V)AD8233 offers the following features: Ultra-low static current (typically 50 μA); Lead connection/detachment detection can also be performed in off mode (< 1 μA); And 80 dB common mode rejection ratio (DC to 60 Hz). Electrical noise, a key indicator of cardiac monitoring devices, is less than 10 μV in the range of 0.5 Hz to 40 Hz.
The AD8233 also offers highly flexible filter configurations: a double-pole tunable high-pass filter, a three-pole tunable low-pass filter with tunable gain, and an RFI filter, which are important for consistent and trusted operation in harsh electrical environments for many applications. In terms of ease of use and flexibility, the device also integrates a right leg drive (RLD) amplifier with turn-off function and a non-dedicated operational amplifier. Analog Devices also offers evaluation boards, reference designs, web-based filter design tools, and Spice models to help users with design import and speed to market.
