Actility showcases ThingPark solutions supporting 3GPP and LoRaWAN technologies
Actility, the global low-power wide area network (LPWAN) industry leader, announced that it will support 3GPP LTE-M and NB-IoT technologies in its ThingPark iot suite of software, Enables service providers to seamlessly deploy and manage LoRaWAN and NB-IoT integrated LPWA networks using a single OSS/BSS system, device management solution, and data presentation interface.
Boris Lacroix, senior vice President of Products at Actility, said: "Service providers face a huge challenge in integrating iot devices at scale. At the same time, as the ARPU value of the equipment plummeted, the sheer size of the business gradually increased IT costs, causing OSS/BSS costs and MME/HSS license fees to dominate the entire business, while the high cost of EPC upgrades further killed MTC's early benefits. We have to change that. We firmly believe that ThingPark EPC Connectors are game changers. It supports integrated networks, enabling operators to monetize existing R8-R11 networks and evolve to future R13 deployments."
The solution is now available on the Actility ThingPark iot platform. Its main features include: unified device management, support for LoRaWAN and 3GPP iot devices single-layer configuration and SIM automatic opening; Integrated OSS/BSS to provide unified connection management services, unified LPWA billing, traffic shaping and policy management services; Data presentation, displaying data information including metadata through a single API. The seamlessly integrated LPWA network, powered by ThingPark, also provides activation services, role management, iot service creation, subscription management, and order management.
Mike Mulica, CEO of Actility, said: "This is a significant evolution for our platform. Not only does it effectively enable service providers to immediately extend LPWA commercial services to LTE-M and NB-IoT in addition to existing LoRaWAN networks, but it also provides the best LPWA technology for all iot use cases at all times. We have always believed that the development of LPWA is not a choice between LoRaWAN and 3GPP technology. Instead, both technologies have requirements and can operate in parallel and sometimes even collaboratively to provide the best solution for a specific use case. That's why we've been able to translate that philosophy into a concrete solution on the ThingPark platform that can be deployed at any time for our customers."
