XP Power has released two new series of substrate cooled DC-DC brick converters

     XP Power has released two new families of baseboard cooled DC-DC brick converters with power ratings of 150W and 200W. The new RDF series module includes an ultra-wide input voltage, covering 14-160VDC (nominally 72VDC). These new modules are suitable for applications that rely on multiple power sources or a single power source with large voltage variations, such as renewable energy, battery systems, industrial technology and railway applications.

     The module comes in a compact half-brick package measuring just 61mm x 57.9mm x 12.7mm (2.4 "x 2.28" x 0.5 "), making it ideal for modern space-constrained applications. The integrated baseplate allows for a variety of cooling options, effective thermal management and, therefore, increased reliability levels.

     The voltages available in railway applications vary globally and often require different power supply designs to suit each geographical location. However, the ultra-wide input range of 12:1 eliminates this challenge, allowing the design to be deployed globally without modification of the power level. The design process for railway use is further simplified because all RDF modules fully meet the requirements of the EN50155 transport standard.

     The RDF150 (150W) and RDF200 (200W) series offer single 12V, 15V, 24V and 48V output options, and the RDF150 also includes a 5V option. For applications where the load is a certain distance from the power module, including remote sensing, and includes a voltage fine-tuning function. At -20%/+15%, the interior is wider than many modules currently on the market.

     Efficiency levels are up to 91%, and the unit offers remote on/off functionality, consuming only 15mA in standby/suppressed mode. In addition to the EN50155 certification, these devices are also certified by EMC's EN50121-3-2 and EN61000-4-x, as well as UL62368-1 for ITE.RDF modules are intended for use in harsh environments. They can operate at temperatures from -40 ° C to +100 ° C and include overvoltage, overload and short circuit protection as standard.
