TDK develops TDK laminated ceramic chip capacitors for on-board, X8R characteristics

TDK Corporation has developed TDK laminated ceramic chip capacitors for in-vehicle, X8R characteristics and announced the start of mass production and sales from April 2012. Through the development of dielectric materials that maintain excellent reliability and temperature characteristics even in the harsh temperature environment of 150 ° C, the electrical capacity of the product was successfully expanded. At the same time, the same capacitance is achieved in a smaller size compared to previous products, and the space and number of components are saved.
In recent years, in addition to improving the basic driving performance of the car, the car is increasingly pursuing high performance and multi-function in terms of comfort and safety, and the electronic vehicle equipment has made great progress. In addition, the new generation of environmentally friendly vehicles that have improved fuel consumption performance and reduced carbon dioxide emissions in recent years have also received worldwide attention for their ability to reduce the environmental load. In this case, there is a trend to increase the number of electrical equipment carried in a limited space, and the market for on-board electronic components also requires related products to contribute to the miniaturization and space saving of electrical equipment.
In order to meet the above market needs, TDK has maintained the reliability required for automotive laminated ceramic chip capacitors with its advantages in material technology and multilayer technology, while achieving miniaturization and large capacity. The temperature characteristics of the product reach X8R characteristics (temperature range: -55 ~ +150℃, capacitance change rate: ±15%), in addition to mainly used in the engine cabin and other automotive purposes, in the industrial equipment used in the smooth circuit of the converter power supply can also be used.
