New blue and true green surface mount leds

     Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. introduces new blue and true green surface mount leds in ultra-compact MiniLED packages. The 2.2mm x 1.3mm x 1.4mm Vishay Semiconductors vlmb2332t1b2-08 and VLMTG2332ABCA-08 feature the latest ultra-bright InGaN chip technology. Typical luminous intensities of 440mcd and 2300mcd were achieved, respectively, four times higher than the previous generation solution in the plc-2 package.

     Typical applications will include medical light therapy; Lights for agricultural equipment and power generation systems; Indicators and backlights for office, entertainment and telecommunications equipment; Liquid crystal switch; And commonly used symbols. With their high brightness and small size, leds are ideal for small, high-power products that are expected to work reliably in harsh environments.

     In addition, the VLMTG2332ABCA-08 has a typical wavelength of 525nm at 20mA, making it ideal for heart rate monitoring applications in fitness trackers and other devices that rely on changes in green light absorption. The vlmb2332t1b2-08 offers a typical wavelength of 465nm at 20mA and is optimized for smoke detectors that use short-wave blue light to detect small particles.

     The LED's mini-package features a lead frame embedded in a white thermoplastic. The device provides a semi-strong Angle of ±60°, a wide viewing Angle of 120° for uniform illumination and backlighting, and a typical forward voltage of 2.9V. VLMB2332T1U2-08 and VLMTG2332ABCA-08 are classified according to the luminous intensity and color of each package unit.

     Rohs compliant, halogen-free and Vishay green leds are available in 8mm tape. They provide antistatic voltages up to 2kV according to JESD22-A114-B and are pretreated according to JEDEC Class 2a, IR reflow and automatic placement equipment according to J-STD-020.
