Mosfets improve on-resistance and switching efficiency in automotive applications
Infineon Technologies AG is expanding its next-generation OptiMOS 7 mosfet portfolio for automotive applications: The 40V portfolio now includes more devices in robust lead-free packages. In addition, 80V and 100V OptiMOS 7 MOSFETs are now available. Mosfets are optimized for all standard and future automotive 48V applications, including electric power steering, braking systems, power switches in new regional architectures, battery management, electronic fuse boxes, DC-DC and BLDC drivers in various 12V and 48V electrical system applications. They are also suitable for other transport applications such as LEVs, electric hub vehicles, electric scooters, electric motorcycles, and commercial and agricultural vehicles (CAVs).

"We offer our customers a diverse portfolio of products and meet all their needs to advance modern automotive applications."
By combining 300mm thin wafer technology with innovative packaging, the new technology offers significant performance benefits across all available voltage levels. As a result, these components are now available in a variety of rugged automotive power packages, including single SSO8 (5x6), dual SSO8 (5x6), mTOLG (8x8) and sTOLL (7x8).
The series delivers high power density and energy efficiency in the smallest form factor, with the industry's lowest on-state resistance (e.g., up to 1.3mOhm in a single SSO8 (5x6) 80V package). The device also offers lower switching losses, improved SOA robustness, and high avalanche current capability. With these, they can provide efficient system design for future automotive applications.
