Molex introduces CMC standard connectors and welded connectors with press terminals

     Molex expands its CMC product line with a pin-compatible 1 54 circuit connector, as well as 32 and 112 circuit soldered mounting connectors. Designed specifically for high conductivity and harsh environment applications, the CMC is the industry standard interface for automotive and transportation powertrain applications, including engine control units (ECUs), automatic transmissions, suspension controllers and electrical parking brakes. Selvan Wilhelm, global Product Manager at Molex, said: "Customers use CMC Standard and power connectors for plug-in, which can be used in automotive and commercial applications cost-effective modular hybrid connection systems for medium, high and low current line-to-board applications in vehicles."

     Customers benefit from a new solder-free process with a 154 circuit, three-slot right Angle connector with pin-compatible terminals, which increases production efficiency and reduces assembly costs compared to the traditional push-to-connect installation process. The 154 circuit connector uses 120 x 0.635mm (0.025 in) signal pins, 24 x 1.50mm (0.059 in) terminals, and 10 x 2.80mm (0.110 in) power pins to support high-current applications such as large ECUs.

     The Molex 154 circuit connector is equipped with a precise and robust design guide that protects 5 rows of terminals and ensures positioning while withstanding strong vibrations of up to 10G. For multiple ECU plugs in different applications, the 154 circuit connector enables up to 50 plug cycles, making it ideal for common heavy duty applications such as agricultural equipment.

     The new 32-circuit, single-slot right-angle connector with welded terminals is designed for small power transmission applications, as well as hydraulic and electronic suspension controllers. In addition, the 112-circuit, three-slot right-angle connector also comes with welded terminals, making it ideal for any ECU application that requires a larger number of circuits. Both connectors are made of hydroltically stable and highly flame retardant UL 94V-0 plastic material, suitable for epoxy adhesives, making them ideal for sealing applications.

     Wilhelm adds: "Molex has a full range of off-the-shelf connected systems that meet CMC industry standards, so customers can save on tooling costs and benefit from reduced delivery times." The 154 circuit connector provides a variety of circuit combination options according to customer requirements. The standard stamping shape of the 32 and 1 12 circuit connectors is the same as the Molex 48 circuit (500762) and 80 circuit (502225) connectors. Various color coding facilitates modular operation and easy insertion into CMC connectors and connectors.
