The company today announced the LS0502SCD33S, the newest member of its family of electronic fuse protection integrated circuits. This newly developed product introduces a single-cell ultracapacitor protected integrated circuit tailored for backup power charging under extreme conditions, setting a new benchmark in the field.

     Backup power is essential in many situations, but the limited temperature resistance of lithium-ion batteries often limits their application. Littelfuse has designed the LS0502SCD33S to address this problem, leveraging supercapacitor technology to provide a solution that ensures superior performance over a wide temperature range while delivering superior power/energy density. This single-cell approach ensures a reliable, compact backup option.

     An outstanding feature of the LS0502SCD33S is the ability to easily manage high operating voltages above 3 V without the need for complex power management arrangements. The LS0502SCD33S incorporates input overvoltage and current protection mechanisms to prevent potential system damage. It provides an adaptable, all-in-one, space-saving solution for storing capacitors or capacitor banks. In addition, it incorporates an ideal diode for reverse blocking, thus maintaining performance and efficiency when the input voltage drops.

     "The LS0502SCD33S single-cell supercapacitor electronic fuse provides electronics developers with an extremely efficient integrated circuit solution for supercapacitor charge protection integrated into a single component." Bernie Hsieh, Assistant product Manager for Littelfuse's Protected Semiconductors Division, commented, "The expansion of our family of electronic fuse protected ics further expands our product range to include protection for portable battery-powered devices, This puts Littelfuse at the forefront of the rapidly growing supercapacitor management and protection market."

     The LS0502SCD33S supports multiple protection functions such as overcurrent protection (OCP) and overvoltage protection (OVP), as well as high energy efficiency and active/standby automatic switching, making it the best in its class.

     In addition to protection, the LS0502SCD33S offers a number of advantages. It improves reliability, extends service life and helps manufacturers reduce maintenance costs. In addition, it extends battery durability and minimizes the size of the end product through a compact design, which is an important feature for devices that require long periods of standby.
