Dialog introduces the first configurable mixed-signal IC with system online programming capabilities

     Dialog Semiconductor, a provider of highly integrated power management, AC/DC power conversion, charging and Bluetooth low power technologies, today announced the availability of configurable mixed signal ics (CMIC)GreenPAK™ SLG46824 and SLG46826. This is the first CMIC launch following Dialog's acquisition of CMIC Technology pioneer and market leader Silego Technology. The SLG46826 and SLG46824 are the first CMIC on the market to support online programming of the system with a simple I2C serial interface.

     By allowing an unprogrammed GreenPAK chip to be mounted on a PCB board, non-volatile memory (NVM) can be programmed within the system, simplifying the development process and making system design easy. This flexibility also makes it easy to modify the configuration or add functionality to the device by programming non-volatile memory on the production line. The NVM on this device supports 1,000 erase/write times. In addition, the SLG46826 includes 2 kbits of EEPROM emulation memory, which can replace an I2C-compatible serial EEPROM on the customer board, supporting backup configuration data, calibration and storage of a serial number.

     Both Cmics are available in a 2.0 x 3.0 mm 20-pin STQFN package with low-power analog and digital resources such as analog comparator (ACMP), internal reference voltage, power-on reset and more advanced digital resources such as multi-function macro units. Running a low-power analog comparator with an internal low-power reference voltage, the typical power consumption is only 2.5 μA for two ACmps that continuously monitor external signals. In addition, the 2.048 kHz oscillator consumes only a few hundred nanoamps of current while running, making it ideal for watchdog timer applications, or other designs that require a low-speed oscillator to run all the time. The power-on reset module runs all the time, ensuring that the device can be properly initialized at any power rise rate and consumes only 100 nA current at a 3.3V supply voltage. These devices also have dual power supply capabilities, providing additional advantages for converting signals between two voltages.
