Chorus Series clock generators for artificial intelligence data center applications
SiTime Corporation has introduced the Chorus family of clock generators for artificial intelligence data center applications. This new MEMS-based clock System Monolithic (ClkSoC) family offers 10 times the performance at half the size compared to standalone oscillators and clocks. Chorus's new approach, which includes integrated on-chip clock, oscillator, and resonator technology, simplifies the system clock architecture and reduces design time by six weeks. This line, combined with the recently acquired timing products from Aura Semiconductor, builds on the company's strategy of offering a complete portfolio of highly differentiated solutions.
"Artificial intelligence is driving tremendous demand for higher data throughput and lower power consumption in data centers, and SiTime is uniquely positioned to help address these issues," said Piyush Sevalia, executive vice president of marketing at SiTime. "Before Chorus, hardware designers had to use discrete product types such as clocks, oscillators, and resonators, which resulted in performance compromises. Chorus provides integrated clock generators to address these issues, and this is another example of how we are changing the clock market uniquely."
Chorus integrates MEMS resonators, solves the limitations of traditional clock generators, eliminates noise and other problems, and matches the impedance of the resonator with the clock. In addition, by replacing up to four independent oscillators, it can reduce the board area by up to 50%. Data center devices such as servers, switches, acceleration cards, and intelligent network cards are ideal applications for chorus.
