Broadcom introduces StrataDNX(TM) switch system-level chips for carrier and data center networks

     Broadcom has announced the next generation of new additions to its StrataDNX (" Dune ") switching system-on-chip (SoC) family. Today, these new SOCs are widely recognized and adopted by the world's top equipment manufacturers, providing a complete solution for service provider networks ranging from dense and compact switching and routing platforms to large-scale multi-rack routers. Broadcom's new switch SoCs are perfect for market segments such as optical transport, carrier-grade Ethernet, edge and core routers, data center cloud computing, and enterprise campuses.      Broadcom StrataDNX is the world's first product to deliver 800 Gbps packet processing power per device with high interface bandwidth, while integrating a scalable trillions of bits (Tb) switching matrix, layered traffic manager, external packet data buffer, and advanced packet processing capabilities. This unique integration enables device manufacturers to offer networking devices with higher port density, lower power consumption, and larger user scale at a smaller physical system size.

     The StrataDNX family of scalable products complements Broadcom's highly integrated StrataXGS Trident and Tomahawk system chips to provide the industry's most complete portfolio of end-to-end switching solutions for carrier, data center and enterprise markets.

     The StrataDNX series supports a quasi-standard implementation of 25 and 50 Gigabit Ethernet and connects directly to the Broadcom BCM56960 Tomahawk switch system chip, the industry's first high-density 25/100 Gigabit Ethernet switch for cloud-scale networking. In addition, the device supports port speeds of up to 400 Gbps, enabling the world's largest 400 Gigabit Ethernet interconnection network and roadmap. Integrated accelerators for carrier service management provide visibility and control over carrier networks and distributed data centers across a wide area network (WAN).
