Battery connectors that meet customer needs for higher signal and current capabilities

Kyocera AVX has expanded its robust and extremely user-friendly 9155-800 Series vertical-mate, 2mm-pitch battery connectors with seven- and eight-position models to meet customer demand for higher signal and current capabilities. These new additions also expand the 9155 family of battery connectors, which already offers a broad selection of standard battery connectors.

     Kyocera AVX extends its powerful and very user-friendly 9155-800 series vertical butt, 2mm-pitch battery connectors, available in seven - and eight-bit models, to meet customer demand for higher signal and current capabilities. These new features also extend the 9155 Series battery connector, which already offers a wide selection of standard battery connectors.

     The battery connector series has a unique contact geometry that allows clean deflection when the module, fitted connector or PCB is pushed into position vertically, allowing full vertical contact in the pluggable module without risk of contact damage. Traditional battery connectors require the user to touch the contacts before rotating the fit module or PCB into place to reliably prevent contact damage. This series does not. Users can match these connectors from any Angle without inadvertently damaging the contacts.

     The battery connector series features a very tolerant sweep beam contact design and anti-resistance to reliably protect contacts from damage during deflection and static. The series also offers ultra-robust and reliable gold-plated beryllium copper contacts that provide excellent electrical and mechanical properties for more than 5,000 fit cycles and plastic positioning bogs and SMT anchor cards, maximizing the mechanical stability of connectors in high impact and vibration environments.

     Another unique feature of the series is that it is compatible with signal and power circuits. As a result, the newly expanded pin-counting range extends from two to eight locations, giving users a wider range of signal and current capabilities.

     The battery connector also features a flame retardant (UL94 V-0) black glass-filled nylon 46 insulator, BeCu contacts with 0.4 μm or 0.8 μm selective gold-plated nickel (the former for most commercial and industrial applications, the latter for harsh environment applications) and a pure tin tail. They are rated at 125VAC or DC equivalent, 1.5A or 2A, depending on the number of locations (5 to 8 and 2 to 4, respectively), with operating temperatures extended from -40 ° C to +125 ° C. They are also RoHS compliant and 1,000 are shipped in rolls with a diameter of 330 mm.

     Ideal applications for battery connectors are found throughout the industrial, medical, and consumer electronics markets, including handheld and portable devices that require docking or stands, such as charging stations, patient monitoring devices, industrial devices with pluggable or programmable modules, and Internet devices with backup batteries.
