Anadigics introduces three small battery wireless infrastructure power amplifiers
Anadigics Inc. of Warren, New Jersey, USA, has introduced three new power amplifiers (PA) for 3G and 4G small cell applications, including Picocellular, enterprise femto cell base stations, and high-performance client devices (optimized CPE). Service providers are expected to increasingly utilize small battery devices to increase network capacity and data transfer speeds in densely populated areas. This was illustrated by a recent performance by Vodafone Netherlands at the 2015 LTE World Summit, where the planned expansion of small cell networks and superior customer experience were discussed.
The AWB7133, AWB7137, and AWB7238 power amplifiers operate in the 2496-2690MHz, 758-803MHz, and 791-821MHz bands, providing high efficiency, linearity, and efficiency, respectively. The output power and thermal characteristics allow manufacturers to combine the development of wireless infrastructure solutions that consume less power and provide higher throughput for greater coverage, the company claims.
"Anadigics continues to expand its industry-leading family of small cell power amplifiers to meet the most popular WCDMA, LTE FDD and TD-LTE bands," said Charles Armor, senior director of business development for wireless infrastructure products at ANADIGICS. "As wireless data consumption continues to break records, our power amplifiers achieve high throughput, reliability and compact design for small cell towers," he added. "These solutions enable service providers to economically and pragmatically expand broadband network capacity and coverage."
ANADIGICS 'complete line of small cell wireless infrastructure power amplifiers leverages the company's unique InGaP-Plus technology and innovative design architecture to deliver what it claims is industry-leading performance and integration. The AWB7133 and AWB7137 power amplifiers offer better than 15% efficiency, 28 dB gain, and -47 DBC ACPR@ + 24.5dBm linear output power. The AWB7238 power amplifier has a 13.5% efficiency, 30 dB gain, and a linear output power of -47 DBC ACPR@ + 27dBm.
The power amplifiers are used in the same compact, low-profile 7mm x 7 x 1.3mm surface mount package throughout the AWB71XX and AWB72XX product lines, allowing the use of different frequency bands and power levels with the same PCB layout. Anadigics' small cell power amplifiers also offer integrated bias, eliminating the need for complex external bias circuits and reduced PCB space.
